I'm an user of ABDialer 1. Are there discount upgrades to ABDialer 2?
Sorry but since ABDialer has such a low shareware fee, we can't sell discount upgrades because this would cost us almost the same amount as the fee it takes to sell ABDialer. However if you registered ABDialer on or after June 24, 2004 then you are eligible to a free upgrade.

Can I use ABDialer with the Airport modem?
No, the Airport modem is not directly accessible from the Mac. It's only used by Airport itself to provide an internet connection.

Why does the ABDialer Phone Book skip some contacts from my Address Book?
ABDialer only list contacts with at least one phone number. No need to list a contact without phone number.

I frequently make changes to my Address Book contacts. How I can tell ABDialer to refresh the Phone Book to reflect the new changes?
There is no need to tell ABDialer to refresh. ABDialer gets every change notification issued by Address Book and automatically refreshes the Phone Book if needed.

Can I use the dialing abilities of ABDialer from another application?
Yes. ABDialer supports AppleScript and then can be used as a dialer from any AppleScript capable application (e.g. FileMaker Pro). See the AppleScript examples.

Can I use ABDialer to dial numbers from another application without using AppleScript?
Yes. ABDialer can install an additional Service menu with a keyboard shortcut. Using this menu you can dial selected text from any Services aware application.

Any chance I can use ABDialer to dial a number from an application not Services aware?
Yes. The ABDialer Menu includes a "Dial Clipboard" item. Just copy the number you wish to dial to the clipboard, then select "Dial Clipboard" from ABDialer Menu.

I wish to use ABDialer to dial directly from Address Book. Is this possible?
Yes using the provided Plugin. After installed the Address Book plugin from ABDialer, click on the label of the phone in Address Book and then select the "Dial with ABDialer" item.

I'm behind a PABX and need to dial a digit to place a call outside my office. Is this feature supported by ABDialer?
Yes. The ABDialer Dial Rules Preferences permits you to specify a number sequence to be dialed prior any number. The same feature can be used to dial with different phone companies in some countries.

I wish to use my phone card. How can I configure ABDialer for this?
If you dial using a standard analog modem (not the speaker or mobile phone) the ampersand (&) dialing modifier tells the modem to wait for the phone card tone before proceed to dial the remaining tones. E.g: 1-800-123456,,,&1-234-567890 dial the 1800123456 sequence, then wait for 6 seconds (1 comma = 2 sec) then wait for the phone card tone, then dial the remaining tones.

Can I use ABDialer to emulate a phone, talking to the microphone and hearing from the speaker?
No. ABDialer is a phone dialer only and does not support this feature. Besides a such feature would require a voice enabled modem and most of the Mac's internal modems are not.

After dialing the phone, the modem does not automatically hang up. What to do?
Some modems seems don't supporting the automatic hardware hang up. The iMac G5 internal modem sometimes show this behavior. In that case you can enable the Software hang-up option on Modem Preferences.
